About

Benjamin Windeler

I use data science to make tech work better for people. Currently deep-diving on AI safety. At Digital Public Square, I've spent over five years building education and research products with global reach — including dashboards for monitoring disinformation, games for civic education, and an AI evaluation benchmark that measures real-world harms.

I hold a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Integrated Science from McMaster University. Outside of my professional life you can find me fundraising for mental health charities, picking up new sports, and exploring our world and ones beyond.

"What we see before us is just one tiny part of the world. We get into the habit of thinking, this is the world, but that's not true at all. The real world is in a much darker and deeper place than this, and most of it is occupied by jellyfish and things. We just happen to forget all that."
